3 1/2 Gauge
 
 
A rather unusual loco from one of the pioneers of Model Engineering. Thanks to Ivan Law for the design work on the cab which has all the rivet detail. 

 

This is a kit for the 4000 gallon tender for behind a Jubilee Black Five Rebuilt Scot Duchess etc. The kit is for the chassis only and does not include the hornblocks wheels etc. Only the plate work is included in the kit i.e. frames inner frames front and rear boxes inner and outer stretchers brake hangers and inter stays.. Further kits are available for the body work.

 

A tender chassis and body in kit form for a 3 1/2 inch scale loco. Ask me to send you a drawing first! Kit includes frames drag box draw box and three stretchers for the chassis and takes about 10 hours to assemble you supply the bolts (8BA). Body is in brass and takes a weekend to put together it also all tabbed and slotted.

A scaled down version of our popular high sided tender for the 9F or Brit. All the parts interlock for a fsat build. Included are the lifting lugs, ladder, lockers, braces etc. The major rivet holes are all cut for you. 

 

A 3 1/2 inch version of the popular 5 inch BR1 tender suitable for a number of locomotives including Evening Star and Britannia.

LBSCs 4-6-0 locomotive based on the Stanier Black 5. Described in Model Engineer vols 98 - 101.

 

A super 3 1/2 inch gauge version of the famous and powerful LMS Coronation Class. Lots of parts for this to make it a fairly quick build.

 

A scaled down versionof our popular Buchess tender. Avaialble in Streamlined, De streamlined and Non streamlined versions. 

 

These parts take the palce of the standard parts in the 4000 gallon cahssis to convert it to a Duchess. 

 

Another from Martin Evans which was serialised in Model Engineer from Issue 3655 onwards. This is a Stanier 8F. 

 

LBSCs last design. Makes into a powerful but easy to transport locomotive.

LBSCs LNER Pacific. 

 

Produced in 1997 this is a very simple 0-4-0 tank engine. 

 

Serialised in Model Engineer 1982 and named Spencer. 

 

A scaled down version of the Invicta locomotive. Factor of .7059. 

 

Not one of Curleys more popular locos but it was serialised in Model Engineer. The tender is a scaled down Manor with 1.15 inches taken out of its length, for some reason he decided the correct length was too long! All tabs and slots together as usual.

David Joys famous 2-2-2 engine built in 1847 for the Brighton railway. Castings from Reeves.

 

An LMS 2 cylinder 2-6-4 tank locomotive designed to celebrate the jubilee year of Model Engineer. Described in volumes 118 to 124. Castings from Blackgates Engineering 01924 466000. 

 

LBSCs Juliet either number 1 or number 2. 

 

A scale 3 1/2 Inch 4,000 gallon tender body for the GWR King or equivalent. All the parts are in brass and are tabbed togetehr for a fast build. 

 

A 3 1/2 GWR Hall class locomotive by LBSC form Reeves. Formally called Lickham Hall it is available with either piston valves or slide valves.

A fast build tender suitable for many of the LNER locomotives, B1, Footballer etc. This is our popular 5 inch tender scaled down. The original is from works drawings. 

 

This is the alterantive tender for Don Youngs Doncaster but in 3 1/2 inch scale. It was behind the A3s before the high sider came in. Drawings are from Don Young and works drawings. You have to make the rear corner, a template and copper beating exercise.

A scaled down version of Les Warnetts locomotive. 

 

A very simple LNWR 2-4-0 loco also available in 5 inch gauge. From Model Engineer starting Vol 132, issue 3295. 

 

A G.N.Atlantic 4-4-2 from LBSC. This locomotive can be built with plain bearings or ball races. Dating for H Ivatts design of 1897 this was the first British locomotive of the Atlantic type. The first engine was called Henry Oakley after the general manager a further 20 were built. Serialised in Model Engineer Vols 72 - 76.

 

These locos ran on the Lynton and Barnstable railway very successfully. An unusual loco with excellent drawings. 

 

LBSCs classis LMS 0-6-0 tank locomotive. Serialised in Model engineer volumes 85 and 86. 

 

LBSCs 0-6-2 tank engine. 

 

Mountaineer a Narrow-gauge 2-6-2 tank for 3 1/2in. Gauge. Serialised in Model Engineer from issue 3467 to 3497. 

 

One of LBSCs Live Steam Series as described in Model Engineer in 1945 Volume 93 issue number 2304 onwards. This is an 0-6-0 tank engine with outside cylinders and Bakers outside valve gear. It can also be built as a tender engine. Described as being Something to Build On the Quick.

A number of parts including a cab and tender for this popular locomotive. 

 

A few parts for Rainhill in 3.5 inch. This was serialised in Model Engineer from Volume 84 Issue 2082 to Volume 84 2089.

A 3 1/2 version of the Martin Evans Simplex.

 

A small single, easy to carry and good to look at. Not Sure of the designer but Jackson of York did one in 1945. Ask for a drawingt first!! 

 

Unusual locomotive which I know little about. The cab is basically an enlarged Doris. 

 

These are some parts I scaled down for a customer making a s.5 version of Super Claud. 

 

LBSCs famous original Tich. Serialised in the Model Engineer during 1950. 

 

As serialised in Model Engineer from issue 2880 to 2917 this American look alike locomotive is always a crowd pleaser.
